As I was thinking about those cheating wives websites I started looking at some online trends of the subject. And based on what people are actually doing online it is clear that it is a growing trend.That chart above is from Google Trends for the search term “have an affair”. That is a very strong trend showing that more people are searching for that term. The volume is not real high, about 100 searches a day, but is increasing rapidly.
Looking at the search term “cheating wives” it gets an impressive 3,300 searches per day. So there seem to be a lot of people looking for cheating wives, maybe a lot of male fantasy interest there.
I took a look at the Flickr trends for cheating wives and cheating husbands. That’s kind of interesting (chart below).
The trend is almost straight up at the end of last year. Not lots of photos, though, and cheating husband photos are way up over cheating wives photos. Maybe angry wife revenge?
As I mentioned in the comments in my earlier post about cheaters dating sites, some of these sites are big and have been around a long time so there is more than just fake profiles. Ashely Madison, for example, has been online for more than seven years. They have an Alexa traffic rank of 10,000 which means they get many, many daily visitors. You can’t get an exact number from Alexa but for comparison purposes, my dating site was around Alexa 100,000 (when I used to care) and I was getting 6,000 daily unique visitors. So Ashley Madison is probably around 60,000 to 100,000 daily uniques, which is a lot. A more important measure would be how many members they have. But who really knows since for sure there are lots of fake profiles. Still, there are certainly many, many real members or they would have died off long ago.
So, cheating is not a new trend, maybe not even a growing trend, but it is definitely a growing online trend. Now we can wonder what is causing the recent rapid uptrend, economic downturn maybe?

There is a new term called “Hot Wife”. An attractive and sexually active married woman. Since the advent of the new birth control Essure many women who have had enough children can be freed from that worry.
The idea of having a lover is moving into the mainstream in the puritanical US But has been codified in the EU. In upper class European circles it is and has been accepted for decades. Even ads for Mercedes Benz allude to this.

That’s interesting Rio. It is sort of common in Thailand, too. In Thai hiso many men have mistresses but there are also hiso women who have lovers. It’s not open at all – everybody keeps quiet and discreet even though the arrangement may be agreed and accepted.
