It’s sad news and getting lots of coverage, the death of Michael Jackson. But the quote of the day I think is this one from The Post Chronicle:
I’m comforted by the fact that this is not Thailand and I’m sure the hospital, authorities and family have and have had his remains on complete lockdown.
That is a reference to the release of the David Carradine death photo and later the David Carradine autopsy photo. Nice to see Thailand is mentioned in a bad way again (not).

At least MJ can be left at peace. Just hope they [the media] don’t start smearing him…..haha yeah right. Wish they could have more respect, not just for the living, but for the dead. What a musician!!!

I have a vocabulary question. Someone who only sings, are they also called a “musician”? Or just “singer”?

Re your vocabulary question: I believe that most American English speakers would agree that “singer” would be the more common title, although “musician” would be acceptable albeit generally not used for vocalists.
MJ, being a composer and, I believe on occasion, an instrumentalist as well could easily be referred to as “musician.”

Craig, those are some really tasteless jokes (some are pretty funny, too).
Eddie, those kind of comments I see a lot in western news. The thing that people like that don’t know is that the Thai police don’t like child abusers and they don’t feel like waiting for a court to punish them. So if they catch someone that person often ends up dead in jail – the cause of death is always suicide.
