Regular readers know how unhappy I am with Acer after my laptop broke twice and it took them five weeks to fix it the first time and two months the second time, even though it was the same problem both times. These two pretties think I should buy a Gateway. Maybe I should. I definitely won’t be buying from Acer again.

You want to have problems then definitely buy a Gateway. I to have an Acer and have had my fair share of issues but from what I understand they definitely getting better. Why not stick with a dependable brand like Sony or HP.
Btw, I had to look twice before I realized what the picture had to do with Gateway computers.

The VGA went bad, twice. It took them 5 weeks to fix it the first time, 2 months the second time. They said they don’t stock the part in Thailand. How can that be. They are the biggest seller of laptops in Thailand and they don’t stock repair parts for a normal laptop?

Gateway is owned by Acer. They use the same basic components and are generally assembled in the same factories. Gateway is just a marketing name they use after they bought the old Gateway Computers.

Gateway was a computer company started in a the basement of a couple of friends in a state of South Dakota. They used the motive of cow skin to decorate their shipping boxes. They were doing quite well and grew with their success. It was a good low end computer. But then the owners decided they needed to be with the big boys and not in hick back water land of the northern prairie. So, they moved the head quarters to California, and I have not seen their name for years.
