How extensive is the problem? The Thai government, like the US government, seems frequently to be overly concerned with what seems to me to be not so terribly important questions.
However, given the tradition of mia noi and the tendency of younger and younger children to adopt older behaviors at ever younger ages, I can see the need for a campaign directed at the youth to down-play the supposed “glamour” and “sophistication” possibly associated with such behavior. Hopefully, any such campaign will be more successful than the anti-smoking campaign directed towards children here in the US.

The question of age differences are not so much a problem in Asia.. But it seems pretty much in the U.S., England, Australia, pretty much wherever there is a big Christian influence. Yes, I have to agree when it concerns girls below say 18. However, here in Thailand it’s also not unusual for a rich or moderately rich Thai man to have a young mia noi around. 18 – 19 – 20. And it seems, it never men who are doing the complaining, it’s those over the hill, in need of cosmetic surgery and tummy tucks women. Don’t believe for one second that if one of those motor mouth over the hill women could pick up a boy toy, she wouldn’t jump on him like a duck on a june bug. And they won’t stop at school children, if they can get this message working good, next it will be college girls, then anyone 10 years younger than you. They won’t be satisfied until the control everything a man does or says. I say put these femi-nazi’s in a home somewhere and lock the doors.
