The very mainstream Reuters has a story that concludes the people from Britain are the ugliest people in the world. Is that harsh or what? It’s based on results from a dating site that went live last month called BeautifulPeople.com.
People submit their photo and profile to the site and then members vote on whether to accept them as members or not. Only 1 in 8 British men and 1 in 20 British women applicants have been accepted, the lowest of all nationalities. Scandinavians and Brazilians are the beautiful people who get accepted at the highest rate. I wonder where Thai people rank – probably not enough Thai applicants to measure.
Dear readers, please don’t think I am picking on British people or that I agree with this conclusion about them being ugly. I’m just reporting on some very odd news from the world of online dating.

Does seem harsh to label the whole country based on participants in a web site, particularly given the selection system.

I don’t see how anyone who has to use a dating site can be qualified to comment on anyone else.

Maybe they shouldn’t comment on other people, but some very nice people have to use dating sites, people who have a big geographic disadvantage. I remember reading about so many American men who worked in Alaska on oil pipeline. No women there at all so impossible to find a wife. They could have been helped a lot if there was online dating back then.
