This is that technique I see them use sometimes. When the models aren’t so pretty you get two of them to pose together. Then it adds up to more beauty, doesn’t it?
It’s sort of like that other technique where the prettier a girl is the less skin she usually shows. Not always of course, but usually. These two, Am and New, are posing in Modern Night magazine which is that mag that usually advertises “entertainment venues” in Bangkok. Usually the girls they photograph are party girls who work at those “entertainment” places.
And usually they are not as pretty as girls featured in the top magazines. When you look at Am and New in their solo poses, well…
You see what I mean. But then you shoot them together and it seems like the combination makes them a lot cuter.

I think the quality/ability/work rate of the photographer matters a lot as well. Many of the pictures in the top magazines are _heavily_ processed and photoshopped. These look much more amateur. I bet if you gave these girls the same quality of art direction, photography, and post-production they’d look a lot better. Maybe they wouldn’t be Panward, but they’d be a lot closer.

I think you’re right, and I think it is both parts of the equation, the low budget magazines have less skilled photographers and also attract less attractive models.

The makeup is terrible! Poor post production. However,if the photographer,production work and learn they can improve.
