I heard there was some controversy about an umpire at the World Cup. I don’t know the details.
But I don’t see anything controversial about this umpire.

Too distracting.
WAY too distracting.
Can you really “ump” in your Calvin Klein underwear? Does FIFA allow that?

Football doesn’t have umpires. They have referees and ones like these would be far to distracting for players. Especially John Terry, although I don’t think it would bother Ronaldo.

@phobo, I have been trying to figure this out but can’t. What is “schwalbes”?

Restricted to women football, please! And keep the CK underwear as official uniform.
Schwalbe is swallow, no? Or a type of waffle?

‘schwalbe’ is a german term for (theatrically) simulating-to-be-victim of a foul in order to get a penalty or free-kick; of course, every nationality does it, but the german term ‘schwalbe’ fits it nice: a ‘schwalbe’ is a swallow indeed, who, in-flight, lets itself drop all of a sudden, for some distance, after which continuing flight as if nothing happened.
Anything to get the attention of the umpire then …

In the U.S., we call it “floppers”. Those guys who fall down to the ground when they get bumped hoping for a foul from the referee. It should be banned or at least if found to be a false move, to have the person evicted. But you know this won’t happen, it’s part of the soccer mystery.. ????
