A comment on my Shock 39 post about a girl I thought was chubby reminded me of this campaign by Dove from five years ago that was called the “Dove campaign for real beauty”. That photo is the one they used for the American version of the campaign.
At that time I was living in Bangkok and I started noticing billboards with the Thai version of the campaign. They showed average looking Thai women – slender, small (natural) breast, straight black hair – and pitched that Dove is for the lady with natural beauty. I thought that seeing the American and Thai versions side-by-side the contrast was pretty interesting. So this photo is for readers who don’t like size zero girls and want “real” beauty American Dove style.

No, the american photo is to pander to the fat american woman who has been oprahfied into believeing she can be fat and sexy at the same time, and it doesn’t matter what men think, which is why so many American men have gravitated to Asian women.
