My dear readers know how much I like a nice cup of coffee. It’s not always easy to find one around here. There are many little coffee shops but they often have bad coffee. Even if they use good coffee beans they often ruin it the way they brew it.
Like today. I was out shopping and stopped at a little Doi Chang coffee shop for a latte. Doi Chang is good coffee from the north of Thailand so I expected to really enjoy my beverage. But it tasted wrong. That’s because they used evaporated milk instead of fresh whole milk – that just ruined it. Sigh.
I’ve always wanted my own espresso maker so I could buy good beans and brew it right. But they are so incredibly expensive in Thailand. That one in the picture above retails for $700 in the U.S. which would be a very good deal in Thailand since the ones available here are not nearly that nice and they cost 30,000 baht or more. But incredibly you can buy that one in the photo for only $179.99, at least that’s the price until August 31. Such a deal.

[…] is kind of an odd coincidence. I just posted about how much I want my own espresso maker, and then I stumbled upon these photos of a model named Nong Atom by a photographer who calls […]

Even if you deserve it, if we bought you the coffee maker, you wouldn’t feel the need to keep providing witty commentary and lovely insights so frequently.

Haha. I couldn’t use that one anyway because the electricity is for America. But it sure is a nice one at such a low price compared to what I see in the stores here.

Hmm… it seems like I can’t post a comment with a link. It got blocked. Actually I want to post a link to a nice Phillips Espresso Machine (Thai website).
Anyway, does the Espresso machine make coffee too? Or we need a Coffee machine to make it (different machine for different beverage)? Sorry for the silly question, I only have a coffee machine here.

Hmm, you should be able to include links in comments. Many commenters have done it.
Espresso machine makes coffee different than a drip or perc coffee maker. It uses high pressure steam. Different result.

Oh great. Thanks, AS. Now I have a reason to buy an Espresso machine.

It really was a coincidence that I discovered the photographer’s name was Espresso after I posted about that espresso machine.

That’s a VERY pretty machine. Unfortunately . . . it received a very poor review on a coffee aficionado website. I’ve spent more on my home set-up than I care to disclose (to my wife), but the best advice fairly universally agreed upon is: spend your money on a good burr bean grinder first (>THB8k). Now, back to Espresso’s photos . . . .

That is quite interesting. I wonder why the bad reviews.

Because it makes coffee with the taste of Cola?
