Some friends emailed me stories about some new law in the U.S. that comes from the FTC. It says bloggers have to have a statement whenever they blog about something that they received for free. I guess every blogger has to have some kind of statement about this on their blog. So here’s mine:
Nobody ever gives me free stuff to blog about. Hey! How come? I want free stuff, too!
So does that satisfy the FTC? I never get any free stuff. And I’m feeling pretty noi jai about that after reading how many other bloggers DO get free stuff.
I do have affiliate links on this blog. In fact, you should assume every link is an affiliate link. If it isn’t then it’s only because I overlooked it. If that bothers you then don’t click. If, on the other hand, you enjoy reading my blog and find something that I linked to be of interest and value to you then go ahead. That is, after all, normal life.

But, Ms. AS, you have our undivided attention and slavish loyalty, all at no cost – excepting your continued posting of lovely ladies and equally lovely wit. Free stuff to blog about. All yours.

Still, can’t we think of something interesting to send me? Like send me one of my fav stars for a personal interview. Then everybody would be happy, sooo happy.

You shouldn’t worry about it unless your site or business has anything to do with the U.S.
If your site is hosted in the U.S. (i.e. your hosting company based in USA), or you do your business banking for this site in the US, you may have to worry about it.
On the other hand, the rules are still very vague and an FTC spokesman said that they were not really changing anything, just trying to give more clear guidelines for bloggers to go by, as a general rule.

This site is hosted in the U.S. Local hosting here in Thailand is just so bad. Doesn’t matter since I never get free stuff anyway
