Today I received a funny advance money scam email. You know what they are, right? Those emails you get from someone who says they have millions in a bank account and they need your help to get it out. You’ll get a reward, too, but first you need to invest some of your own money.
These kind of emails are always so stupid. But this one today was the best. This is how it started:

Bangkok 10110, Thailand.Good Day,
Let me start by introducing myself. I am Mr. Chang T. Somchai, director of operations of the Islamic Bank of Thailand. I have an obscured business suggestion for you.
It’s the name that I think is funny. Chang is not a very common nickname but some people have it. Mr. Chang? But they put it together with a middle initial and the name Somchai as if it was First M. Last like western names. Thai people don’t have middle names/initials so it looks sort of dumb trying to pretend to use it with Thai name. And them Somchai – well, Somchai is a very common first name for Thai men, but it’s a first name and wouldn’t be written as if it were a last name in a business letter.
From there the letter goes on with the usual nonsense about how the scheme is supposed to work and how I will get my money. In this case the scammer was nice enough to include his phone number which is a mobile phone in Thailand. Maybe I should call him?
