And they say it’s because of the push into developing countries. Hey, are they blaming this on Thailand? They probably should because, you know, we Thai people like things really cheap.
For some reason I was reading a story by Bloomberg about the hit in RIM’s stock price due to declining selling price of a Blackberry.
The average price of a BlackBerry sold to a carrier was $311 last quarter and will drop to between $305 and $310 this quarter.
Well, if the Thai carriers pass on that price then I’m still a long way from buying one. I play with the Curve that is on display at my local Tesco every time I go over there but the price is almost 14,000 baht (US$400). So despite it being the hot gadget that all the dara have I won’t be getting one yet. If only I could get one on auction. Some of those Blackberry Storm prices are great.

I carry a net10 phone from LG.
I want a katana along with a monthly plan with T-Mobile.
But like thai people I tend to go for cheaper stuff. I don’t even use my phone that much.

These new cell phones are way to pricey for me. besides the fact, the the keys on the Blackberry are too small for my fat little fingers. I have a Nokia N70, and it’s fine for me.

DO NOT . . . I repeat, DO NOT. . . buy a BB Storm. I returned mine after 1 painful month of using it. The software is buggy and data entry is totally opposite to the ease and rapidity expected from a BB device.

Really? I have read so many people love theirs. Not sure since I don’t use one but I think for me I prefer the keyboard and not the touch screen so I probably wouldn’t buy one anyway.

U can go for a used BB in TH, there are many going off cheap ;-), forget the Storm, maybe the Storm 2 will be better.

The Storm was Blackberry’s somewhat desperate answer to the iPhone. And it has failed. Blackberry is going back to what they are brilliant at – a powerful emailing platform for businessmen. They got themselves into trouble by panicking over the iPhone and trying to copy Apple’s touchpad keyboard. In fact, the touchpad is awkward to use and ill-suited for serious emailing. Blackberry is going back to the Curve again, thank god. I have just got the new one – fantastic. It still doesn’t match the iPhone for bells, whistles and fancy gizmos but I dont care about all that junk. I simply don’t have the time to play with toys. I just want something that helps me get my job done well.
