I read this story on Boing Boing about a zero rupees note that has been circulated for people in India to pay officials who demand bribes. I guess it has the effect of shaming or shocking the corrupt officials when they receive the note. We could sure use something like that in Thailand
Although, I wonder if there is a law broken by printing notes that look almost like the real thing, or if truly corrupt officials will just murder the person who hands them one of these notes. But circulating lots of notes like this with a website, email address and phone number printed on themĀ for reporting corruption could be intimidating to the corrupt people.

Great idea…
Can you run a poll on suggestions for web site names?
Mine are:
– Thai-NoBaht4U.com
– NoThaiBaht4U.com
I’ll donate the website, applications, traffic costs and url(s).

Let’s have readers post their ideas in the comments.
Something that would be needed is someone would have to design the note. I don’t think you could just scan a real note and then Photoshop it. You couldn’t use the King’s picture on the zero baht note. Would have to be creative, make it look very similar to a real note, but with different artwork.

Yes, another contest using Thai graphic artists.
Also needs involvement with Thai “social media” sites.

Wow.. what a great idea and a great way to get shot!!! Thai officials would not think it’s so funny.. I would still like to see it happen, but I know that’s a fantasy… here in Thailand.
